J. Todd DuVal (“Todd”) was born and raised in Henrico County, Virginia, on the outskirts of the City of Richmond. He attended and graduated from Henrico County Schools, Varina High School, in 1984. After high school, Todd attended the College of William and Mary in Virginia, graduating in 1988 with a History Major. He set out on his legal career, attending the University of Richmond, T.C.Williams School of Law, and graduating in 1991.
Todd entered into private practice in 1991 with the Law Firm of Felts & Robinson, located in the eastern portion of Henrico County. There he engaged in general Practice, including criminal law, domestic relations (divorce, custody, support), civil practice, and real estate up until being a founding partner of Goodwin, Sutton, DuVal & Geary, PLC in 1998. Now, Todd remains a member and partner of McDonald, Sutton & DuVal, PLC, the legacy of the original firm formed back in 1998, and focuses primarily on the practice of criminal law, in all levels of state courts. Todd is an experienced trial attorney, having represented defendants in appeals with published opinions from the Court of Appeals, as well as the Supreme Court of Virginia, and represents defendants daily on all varieties of charges, from traffic to murder, throughout the Commonwealth.
